Number One Criteria Eating out with Kids: Service

The ultimate, bottom line, make or break criteria for successfully eating out with kids is stellar service.

You could be stuck with high top seating, kids not in the mood to eat anything, and crumb covered coins dug out from the abyss of your purse, but if your server is gracious and accepting of your kids, this creates the best dining experience!

Likewise, you could have the optimal seating arrangement, best kid food options (and not served steaming hot) and coloring books complete with box of crayons, and if you server is doing the eye roll at your youngsters avoiding your table at all cost, this is the WORST dining experience ever!

Majority of the time, it's luck of the draw whether or not you get a great server.  But our advice is to try not to be too demanding and express gratitude.  If we do have a great server, you can guarantee we put that restaurant on our safe list!

Disclaimer: We do not blame the server if our kids are misbehaving!  We go through great strides to make sure our kids know how to behave in public.  We have no problem taking the kids for a quick walk, or even packing up early if our kids are just not in the mood for eating out.

Our next blog post will review the second criteria for successful eating out with kids: seating arrangements.
